Built in 1889, Wallaces Hut is the oldest remaining high country hut. It stands on the Bogong High Plains, and was used by stockmen who would bring their cattle up to graze on the alpine grasses. Surrounded by majestic old snowgums, it truly is a sight to behold. In 2003, bushfires burnt much of the surrounding area but thankfully the hut and many of it’s surrounding gums were spared
