Quinton Atkinson

Swan Hill based Koori artist

Quinton was born and raised in Swan Hill. Fascinated by such TV splendours as Batman, as a small boy he felt compelled to draw his favourite action heroes. Through school he found himself more interested in art than other subjects, however he specialized as a boiler maker in later years as well as worked with disadvantaged kids.

Quinton did not practice his art for 20 years. An unfortunate turn occurred in his life where he ended up in prison, however while being in prison and subjected to a stale existence, he found his talent once again, where he practiced the art of his elders, inspired by the landscape, the animals and the Dreamtime. While in prison for eight months, he completed 10 very intricate pieces which average time took 2 weeks to one month to complete.

Quinton desperately wanted to donate to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal and once he found out about the Art Auction he was truly honoured to be able to donate one of his paintings.
